Privacy Policy

Packette (“Packette,” “we,” “us”) is an iOS app that lets small groups share outfit photos, polls, and packing lists for a trip. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what control you have. Packette is operated by Alana Sivo.

Packette is currently a free beta distributed through Apple TestFlight.

The short version

We collect the minimum needed to run the app: your email, your display name and profile photo, and the content you post to your trips.
Your trips are private. Photos, comments, polls, and packing lists are visible only to the people invited to that trip. Nothing in Packette is public.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not show ads. We do not use your photos to train AI models.
You can delete your account and your content from inside the app at any time.

What we collect

Information you give us

Account information: your email address and a password. Passwords are stored only as a secure one-way hash by our authentication provider — nobody, including us, can read your password.
Profile information: your display name and, optionally, a profile photo.
Trip content: trips you create or join (name, dates, location, description, optional playlist link, cover photo), outfit photos, captions, occasion labels, comments, reactions, polls and poll votes, and packing list items.
Waitlist: if you submit your email on packette.app, we store that email so we can notify you about Packette's public launch.

Information collected automatically

Push notification token: if you allow notifications, a device token so we can send you alerts about activity in your trips. You can turn notifications off entirely, or by type, in Settings.
Notification preferences and app settings: for example which alerts you want. Your chosen color theme is stored only on your own device.
Basic technical information: standard server logs (such as IP address and timestamps) generated when your app or browser connects to our services, used for security and troubleshooting.

We do not collect your contacts, your location, your camera roll (we only receive the specific photos you choose to upload), your payment information, or advertising identifiers.

How we use it

To operate the app: create your account, show your trips, store and display your photos to the members of those trips.
To send notifications you have asked for, such as when a friend posts an outfit or comments on yours.
To keep Packette secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
To communicate with you about the beta, important changes, or launch news.

We do not use your content for advertising, and we do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.

Who can see your content

Trip members only. Access rules enforced at the database level restrict every trip's photos, comments, polls, and packing items to the people who are members of that trip. If you are not in a trip, you cannot see anything in it.
Trip owners can remove members from a trip. Any member can leave a trip.
Packette has no public profiles, no public feed, and no discovery features.
We may access content only when necessary to operate or troubleshoot the service, respond to a legal request, or investigate abuse.

Service providers

We use a small number of third-party services to run Packette. They process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes:

Supabase — database, authentication, and photo storage (data stored in the United States).
Expo — app build tooling and delivery of push notifications.
Apple — TestFlight beta distribution and the Apple Push Notification service.
Vercel — hosting for the packette.app website.

International users

Packette's data is stored in the United States. If you use Packette from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our lawful bases for processing are performance of a contract (running the app you signed up for) and legitimate interests (security and improving the service); where required, consent (for example, push notifications).

Your rights and choices

Wherever you live, you can:

Access and correct your profile information in the app.
Delete your account and your content at any time: Profile → Settings → Delete account. This removes your profile, your outfit photos, comments, reactions, poll votes, packing items, and trip memberships. Trips you own are deleted or transferred as described in the app at the time of deletion. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
Turn off notifications entirely or by type in Settings, or in your iPhone's system settings.
Ask us for a copy of your data, or ask us to delete it, by emailing support@packette.app.
Unsubscribe from the waitlist by emailing support@packette.app.

Depending on where you live (for example, California, or the EEA/UK), you may have additional rights including the right to know what personal information we hold, to request deletion or correction, to object to or restrict certain processing, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

How long we keep information

We keep your account information and content while your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal content is deleted from our systems; routine backups and server logs may persist for a limited period before being overwritten. Waitlist emails are kept until you ask us to remove them or until they are no longer needed.

Security

We use industry-standard protections including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, encrypted storage of your login session on your device, and database-level access rules that restrict trip content to trip members. No service can promise perfect security, but we take this seriously and will notify affected users if a breach occurs as required by law.

Children

Packette is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you are in the EEA or UK, you must be at least 16, or have permission from a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided us information, email support@packette.app and we will delete it.

Cookies and the website

packette.app is a simple static site. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking. If you submit the waitlist form, your email is sent to our database as described above.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Packette evolves. We will change the “Last updated” date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app or by email.
